Samsung Dryer Not Heating
Samsung Dryer not Heating

We have a Samsung Dryer that is not producing any heat which is a common dryer issue that first has to be confirmed that no heat is being produced before doing a repair because if the unit is heating even a little bit but is taking multiple cycles to dry, then its usually a blocked vent outside of the dryer.
The first step in doing any dryer repair is to check for voltage at the terminal block to make sure we have correct voltage. For this electric dryer, it needs a total of 235-255 volts (depending on the house location and age) incoming to produce heat. It can have just half at 120 volts and will turn on and tumble but will not heat at all and this is why it is an important first step.
If incoming power is correct, the first step on these Samsung dryers is to test the heating element since this is the most common part failure. The heating element typically has a normal fail expectancy of 5-7 years depending on usage and ventilation but is still a useful repair to add life to the dryer.
Samsung uses 2 different types of elements which have either 2 wire leads or 3 wire leads. Pictured here is a heating element that has 2 wire leads and is more common to fail and not produce heat. The element that has 3 wire leads has a much longer life expectancy than the 2 wire lead counterpart.
