gas oven isn’t heating

, the issue usually falls into one of a few key categories. Here’s a breakdown of the most common causes:

           1. Faulty Igniter

           igniter

is the most common cause of a gas oven that won’t heat. Over time, igniters wear out and can’t draw enough current to open the gas valve.

           Signs of a bad igniter:

            Oven clicks but doesn’t ignite

You hear a buzz or hum, but no flame

Burner glows but no heat builds

Matt’s Appliance Care can test and replace the igniter safely.

           2. Defective Gas Valve

doesn’t open when it should, gas won’t flow into the burner. This can happen if the valve itself is faulty or if the igniter isn’t triggering it properly.

           Important:

A Samsung washer that shakes violently during the spin cycle isn’t just annoying — it can cause long-term damage to your appliance, your floors, and even nearby walls. But don’t worry: most of the time, it’s caused by one of the following fixable issues

           1. Unbalanced Loads

Overloading your washer, or washing one bulky item (like a blanket or comforter) can throw the drum off balance. This leads to excessive shaking during high-speed spins.

           Quick Fix:

Stop the cycle and redistribute the load evenly. Avoid washing heavy items alone.

           2. Washer Not Level

If your Samsung washer isn't sitting level on the floor, it can wobble, vibrate, or even "walk" during use.

           DIY Tip:

Use a level tool and adjust the washer's feet until it's sitting flat on the ground. If the floor is uneven, you might need rubber pads or shims.

           3. Worn Out Shock Absorbers or Suspension Rods

Over time, internal components like shock absorbers or suspension springs can wear out. These parts help stabilize the drum and reduce vibration. Once they’re damaged, your washer can shake even with light loads.

We have a Samsung Dryer that is not producing any heat which is a common dryer issue that first has to be confirmed that no heat is being produced before doing a repair because if the unit is heating even a little bit but is taking multiple cycles to dry, then its usually a blocked vent outside of the dryer.

The first step in doing any dryer repair is to check for voltage at the terminal block to make sure we have correct voltage. For this electric dryer, it needs a total of 235-255 volts (depending on the house location and age) incoming to produce heat. It can have just half at 120 volts and will turn on and tumble but will not heat at all and this is why it is an important first step.

If incoming power is correct, the first step on these Samsung dryers is to test the heating element since this is the most common part failure. The heating element typically has a normal fail expectancy of 5-7 years depending on usage and ventilation but is still a useful repair to add life to the dryer.

Samsung uses 2 different types of elements which have either 2 wire leads or 3 wire leads. Pictured here is a heating element that has 2 wire leads and is more common to fail and not produce heat. The element that has 3 wire leads has a much longer life expectancy than the 2 wire lead counterpart.

The First Step in determining why the OE Error code is being presented is to clean the drain pump filter. The cleanliest method is to use a full sized trash bag and drain out the water with the black water tube next to the filter into the bag until no water flows out. Then, remove the pump filter and clean any obstructions out and replace tightly and test.

If the unit still wont drain after cleaning out the filter and it has a rattle while trying to drain, the drain pump has to be replaced. This repair is one of the most common repairs that needs to be done and usually has a life expectancy of 5-7 years depending on washer usage but will add life to your unit!

Frigidaire Side by Side Refrigerator making a humming noise

How to identify and resolve Loud humming noise from Freezer section

In this post, I will explain and resolve a Frigidaire Side by Side Refrigerator (freezer on left and fresh food on right) that is making a loud humming noise that is coming from the freezer section. This noise is constant and can last for several minutes to several hours at a time. The sound of the noise can only be describes as EERRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrr. This is one of the most common issues that can happen with this style (side by side) Frigidaire and can cover many different models and years of production. Depending on your model type, this issue can also present an Error code on the display of SY EF which means there is an interruption of the Evaporator fan motor, the fan motor that is located inside the freezer or refrigerator section (in our case its inside the freezer section).

Before performing these steps, always unplug unit or if applicable, turn unit Off on the Display.

           First Step

The first step in identifying and resolving our issue is to remove any food or items from our top 2 shelves underneath the ice maker bin as well as removing the metal shelving underneath the ice bin. From there we are able to see the back metal panel in which 4 screws will be visible (the top 2 screws are at a diagonal and the bottom 2 screws are level). You can remove these 4 screws with a 1/4 nut driver or a 1/4 drill bit.

           Second Step

After removing the 4 screws, separate and lift the top half of the metal panel up and that will reveal the Evaporator fan motor and if there are Ice blocks around, we have located our issue and can remove the ice. At this point, it is always good to manually turn the blades on the motor to see if still spins properly. If it turns but has a wobble to the spin, then fan motor may have to be changed out but not common with this symptom. Once the ice is removed, you can reassemble the panels with the 4 screws and reassemble the shelves and replace all food or items inside freezer section

           Third Step

Once everything has been placed back inside the freezer, pull the refrigerator away from the wall to access the back of unit to view the fill tube. When pulling the unit away from the wall, remember to lift up the front legs to allow the front wheels to be on the ground if they were lifted up previously. Once the fill tube is visible, unscrew the clear plastic that holds the water line to the actual fill tube until separated. The fill tube pictured has a screw that holds the tube in place but not all models have this screw. If no screw is visible, disconnect green water line and twist the fill tube counter-clockwise and pull the tube out. If the screw is present, remove the screw and pull fill tube directly out.

           Final Step

Once the fill tube is removed from the back of the fridge, run warm water to clean out any clogs of ice or hard water particles that can cause the spraying of water. Once cleaned and dried, I use electrical tape to start tapping the U shaped fill tube up completely. I start at the opening of the U that is closest to my thumb (in picture) and start spiraling towards the end in a circular motion. Once completely tapped up, replace tube back into back port of the fridge and reconnect the green water line and secure tube with screw or twisting in if screw is not present.

Once all steps are completed, push refrigerator back into place and plug unit in or turn unit to the On setting on the Display. If your display had the error code of SY EF and you DIDN'T unplug your unit while performing this repair, it is very important to unplug for as little as 1 minute to reset the code to the control board. If this unplugging of the unit is not performed, the control board will still present error code and will not send voltage to fan even if all steps have been completed. Once plugged in, fan should come back on within a few seconds to minutes and should hear the usual faint humming that the fan typically makes.
